Dr. Robert J.P. Upton · LRSM · MISM
Rob is a musician with a dedicated approach to teaching and education. With a doctorate in Music from the University of Nottingham, he is also a performer, composer, accompanist and DJ.
Based in the East Midlands, Rob specialises in classical piano and music theory, alongside electric guitar and percussion. His performance work spans musical theatre, solo concerts around the UK and rock ’n’ roll with The Ginger Nuts.
His musical life also includes DJ work at Nottingham’s Rock City, where he began playing the Hey Hey Hey club night in 2009.

Rob’s teaching connects technique and musical understanding with the freedom to experiment. The same breadth runs through his recordings: classical piano, jazz, rock ’n’ roll and heavier guitar music.
